SEO Technology - Day #1
By Clive | October 4, 2007
Quotation for the day [by old Aristotle]:
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit.”
Remember to use your KWP in Titles etc. and use your tags - cut and paste them using that text doc. you prepared earlier
Don’t stint on the content when given the option, add the link to your post or page if given the opportunity (in the future though we might instead link to one of the web 2.0 pages we are setting up below). For example in a ‘profile’ area of a Social Networking site get your KWP in your description and put your link in there.
Video sites, get your KWP in the video title and description, get your campaign’s tags in there, ditto on Podcasts. Got an opportunity to get your html link in there? Go to it!
Think about this: when one of these satellite sites appears on Google or anywhere else what will be the one sentence phrase that will appear as a description? Get about 10 one sentence phrases ready (all with KWP in naturally) ready to mix and match and put them into your text.doc
I copy and paste the text doc into Word - colorize it a bit, bold headers etc. and, by the time I’ve finished a 15 day campaign, it’s full up of urls - new passwords and User Id’s - KWP articles you name it! I then save it in my folder for that campaign so I can come back and re-visit it later, say when I see my pages are starting to slip and need a little push.
Todays Social Bookmarking site:
Todays Social Networking site:
Even if, in other Social Networking sites, you just set up an account with a profile and link to your designated page still Facebook is, for now, the Network of choice that you should explore fully BUT since Rupert Murdoch recently said he thought it was “cool” this could very well change soon! BEWARE, it’s all to easy to spend/waste hours every day on Facebook!!!!
Todays Video upload site:
Todays Podcast Site:
Todays stand alone web page:
As well as doing the usual stuff in this lens also add your blog’s RSS feed, and your YouTube video if you’ve got one (if not find something related to your campaign, that’s not a competitor, by searching YouTube using your KWP.) Also text link to the lens from your blog post or web page. More good Squidoo optimization tips on video here.
One for the road? It’s a good’un!:
TIPS AND TOOLS:
First things first. If you aren’t already a subscriber of OnlyWire go and become one now. Spend 20 minutes signing up to all the Bookmarking sites on offer (I suggest you use the same User ID and Password for every one) once you’ve done that you won’t have to do it again.
Once logged in drag the ‘Save Page’ application to your browser’s Bookmarking toolbar.
OnlyWire is going to come in very useful later on so do it now!

http://www.PodcastSpot.com seemed friendly enuff but couldn’t upload my podcast in the final stage - maybe they’re just having a bad day, I’ll report back.

Yep, I just started a new campaign and had a similar problem with PodcastSpot.com so grabbed another podcast site http://www.PodcastAlley.com to get my Day #1 pod up there.
If you’re like me you miss a day and say, “Shit! That’s going to slow me down.” so I like alternatives.
I’m sure we’ll find a replacement for Podcast Alley when we come across them later……

Actually I had a re-think on the above and have changed the first podcast port of call to PodcastBlaster.com
The reason is that they have an automated ‘create your podcast xml feed’ generator. Fill in the boxes and download the .xml file - uploade to your server and THAT url e.g. http://www.yourdomain.com/podcastblaster.xml is what you’ll need to post in future podcast sites.
One thing that might be confusing to new podcasters: in the feed generator when it asks, at the top, for your website url that is the url of where your audio sits e.g. http://www.yourdomain.com/audio/mypodcast.mp3

STAR PERFORMER:
PodcastBlaster: Into #1 spot on Google, with a bullet! stayed there for a while too. Will it resurface? Time will tell.
Wepaint: Ditto on Yahoo, #1!
Also WetPaint have today (7th Nov. 2007) announced the addition of discussion forums so that could be worth a look.

HI Clive, this is a great resource. One that I have been stumbling around since I first read Bending The Web. Thanks!

I just came across a Squidoo site that I never knew existed. The Ever Project.
Have a look at: http://www.ever.com which lets you build Squidoo style lenses on this domain as in http://best.yourKWP.ever.com
Now that’s got to be worth a go don’t you think? I’m definitely going to give it a try for my next campaign.

OnlyWire.com has been getting some bad press recently. My Buzz Group agree that it doesn’t post to all the sites it says it does.
For now I’m still using it but researching alternatives.

Your Squidoo lens has an RSS feed, as do lots of the other sites/pages you’ll be creating so ‘ping’ them.
http://www.Pingomatic.com does it for me but there are other options.
