Getting Started - Your Checklist
By Clive | October 5, 2007
Right here we go with a new campaign so let’s get ourselves organised - have you done the following…..
- Created a Folder on your PC to store info re this campaign?
- Opened the text doc. , and cut and pasted its’ contents into your program of choice, ‘Word’ or similar? You’re going to be coming back to it every day to remind yourself what you need to do next.
- Picked a Bookmarking site, and opened a brand new account, just to save all those ‘clickable’ urls for this campaign’s future promoting/pinging and so on? I’d suggest something like Jaiku.com as your bookmarks there will help your campaign.
Let’s double check the following while we’re at it:
I realise saving the Check List might seem a bit anal for one campaign but, unless you are Mr Memory McMemory, winner of the 2007 Memory Award, when you have two or more campaigns running consecutively then you’ll thank me or Buy me a Guinness! I make notes on it - have I pinged that RSS feed? Have I Stumbled it already or did I Onlywire it? You’re going to have about 70 links to your main page soon so, trust me, the text doc. is essential.
You can see I like a blackboard to track rankings.
Now once you get started on Day #1 you might feel I’m being a tad conservative in only getting a few links up a day - in which case do Day #2 as well. But I think you’ll find that, unless you’ve nothing else to do, that it’s about right. The main thing is to prepare everything before you start - your video, podcast, text etc. so you can copy and paste as you go - then you should move along fairly sharpish. Add RSS feeds as you go.
On the other hand you may be more conservative than me and want to do things every other day or weekly rather than daily - that’s entirely up to you. I have no idea what’s best and so am being somewhat cautious (having been slapped by Google on one of my sites when I got a bit carried away doing 50+ web 2.0 back links in a day).
Certainly if you are looking for the long term benefit as opposed to a quick hit then turn Day #1 into Week #1, Day #2 into Week #2, makes sense right?
I’m assuming a certain web knowledge on your part, and certainly don’t want to patronise anyone, but if things are unclear please use the Webel Forum to ask questions so everyone can help out.
This site is not here to teach you about why Web 2.0 is good for promoting your site(s) or affiliate programs. In fact I’m working on the premise that you are already convinced about that. What Webel hopes to achieve is to keep you (and me!) organised as we are faced with all these lovely new sites that we can sign-up to and get some serious link love coming back to our sites in return.
If you come across issues with any of the suggested sites do leave a comment so I can check it out, and if necessary update that Day’s links, (by the way, as an extra incentive, all Comments are ‘Do Follow’ enabled - if you use Wordpress do get the ‘Do Follow’ widget for your blog, more info as to why can be found here.)
All external links will open in a new window so your Webel page will still be there, underneath, once you’ve done one chore, closed the window, and are ready to move on to the next.
Remember we’re looking to control the pond for a long tail keyword phrase (KWP). Useful tools to help you out on this research:
- Wordtracker Free Keyword Tool
- Google Keyword Tool
- The Free Webel Keyword Analyzer Tool (yes you can pay for products that do more but for basic research this’ll do it for you.)
Alright then off you go (use the Day By Day menu in the Sidebar or click to Day #1) and, hey, let’s be careful out there!
.
If you're a new Webel, you may want to subscribe to the Webel.biz RSS feed. Thanks for visiting and don't forget to leave comments so we can improve!
