How can Webel help me?
By Clive | October 6, 2007
There’s an old expression about “Teaching your Grandmother to suck eggs”!
I’m buggered if I know from where it originates or why it pertains, but for those of you unfamiliar with the phrase it means ‘Don’t offer advice to someone who has more experience than oneself’.
I’m assuming that you are already aware that Web 2.0 sites when optimised for a Long Tail Keyword Phrase and linked to your web page, affiliate page or blog post gives the Search Engines pleasurable tingles, they like it! They like web 2.0 sites, they index them fast and rank them high. Consequently, indirectly, they’ll like you too! Ahh, bless ‘em! It used to take weeks or months to get a new site indexed let alone ranked in the engines, especially Google.
Not any more - a good web 2.0 promotion campaign for a particular web page, using a particular Key Word Phrase [KWP] ( OK, maybe not ‘car insurance quote’ ;-)) can get you indexed in hours and well ranked in days! Not just once but multiple times

Your Web 2.0 ’satellite’ sites that point to your page or post will, essentially, be dominating the first, second and third pages of the Engines. Some will go up, some will go down, some will disappear altogether but you will be controlling that tiny corner of the web for that particular Keyword Phrase. Feels good I can tell you, all that attention!
It’s been refered to as Bending The Web and Dominating The Conversation by web luminaries such as Jack Humphrey and Howie Schwarz and I’m sold on it, as are quite a few smart people I know!
Now I’m crap at organising myself. Don’t get me wrong, I work hard but often I don’t ‘work smart’ it is this that inspired me to set up Webel. There are dozens of tiny steps to take to make this work so….
I needed something to not only remind me where I’d been and what I’d done when promoting a particular web page or blog post but also a way to hold my natural enthusiasm for a great idea in check. To stop me from jumping in with both feet and to keep me focused on the individual objectives. So far so good, it’s working!
Webel.biz is for people who, like me, function best and get more done working with a TO DO LIST.
I’ll point you to some different sites each day for you to join to promote whatever you want. I won’t insult your intelligence by explaining what each site is about other than a quick phrase. You’re quite capable of figuring it out when you there - getting your KWP, tags and link or whatever you can whenever you can. Remember that each page you get ranked, as well as pointing at your sales page is also elbowing out a competitor for that keyword phrase!
Remember this: for every page you get up there promoting yourself you are also elbowing out your competition
That’s it - that’s all I’m going to say about it, I don’t want to teach YOU to suck eggs! But just one more thing, a tiny word of warning!
Nothing is ever certain in this life save one: Google can get pissed off when new ideas come along to ‘bend’ or influence their rankings.
Google employ people far smarter than I to constantly roam the web for conniving, sneaky SOB’s who are looking for a quick fix and so use Black Hat marketing techniques to do just that.
Don’t be a dimwit, follow the rules!
As far as I’m aware nothing I’m promoting here is against Google policy etc. but read this page nonetheless. Don’t come crying to me somewhere down the line saying, “Nobody told me!” So read the warning here - it’s paranoid but better that than being complacent!
.
This Web 2.0 marketing is NOT OK for all your web site SEO needs. It is however a cool technique for those in the know to get a KWP page into the top of Google, page after page! It’s not a replacement for good SEO practice for static sites but should work unless or until somebody changes the rules.
In fact, if you are looking for the long haul, I’d suggest turning Day #1, Day #2 into Week #1 and Week #2. Makes sense right?
How you want use Webel is up to you. If you use it sensibly you will profit, get greedy and I doubt you will, I do hope though that you’ll comment often so we can learn and improve as we go - I’ll happily edit in or out new sites as new information comes in.
It’s a continuous learning curve that I hope we can tackle together offering support to each other on the journey. Congratulate each others successes and analyse our occasional failures, I hope you are up for it, I certainly am.
I’ll also keep adding new ‘Days’ as often as I can. I’d love it if the Forum became popular too and we can build a community of like minded Webels
do please register yourself there even if you’ve nothing to say just yet.
Building a forum from the ground up is a bit daunting so please show your support. Also why not join the Webel Group on Facebook?
The site is entirely free but, hopefully, will make me a few bucks via contextual ads and marketing related products that I’ll promote if I feel they are relevant to the job in hand - getting our sites on pages 1, 2 and 3.
It’s up to visitors whether they buy through my affiliate links or not. I may, in time, make the blog a membership site and charge a small monthly fee to new members. Relax though, nobody registered while it’s free will ever have to pay in the future.
On occasion I might, as in real life, ask you to buy me a Guinness (or a keg, especially if things are going well for you and your sites are ‘exploding’ up the rankings) but, also as in real life, you don’t have to do that (you cheap bastard) and that’s fine.
Check out the results of the latest campaign here>
PS: The Webel site has a ‘Do Follow‘ policy for intelligent commenters so we look forward to hearing from you soon.

OK,onwards and upward! Let’s kick-start your first campaign.
If you're a new Webel, you may want to subscribe to the Webel.biz RSS feed. Thanks for visiting and don't forget to leave comments so we can improve!

I LOVE the concept of a day-to-day to-do list. It’s the only way I ever get anything done, except when I lose my list.
Since I’m in for ‘the long haul’ I’m figuring that you mean I should take a week to really understand and saturate the instructions in day#1.
Can do!
Thanks for the concept! It’s just what I needed.
